This official AEC photograph was provided by Mr Hitchin's son, Derek, who recalls:

"My father was a dedicated AEC employee. He liked to tell us kids that as a driver of cabless AEC chassis he would use high revs in a high gear ratio, this being the approved way of "running in". He also reckoned that he was one of the first men to drive an AEC chassis up the hill to Edinburgh Castle."

"He died suddenly at home in 1958 and it is nice to know that my father is still remembered by the AEC Society, so long after his untimely death."
